History

Telenor Maritime, a truly global mobile operator at sea, was established in 2002 under the name Maritime Communications Partner (TELENOR MARITIME).

We deliver cutting edge solutions for marine satellite and mobile coverage, primarily on board major cruise ships, ferries and offshore installations but also for other marine industries such as fishing.

Telenor Maritime is located at Arendal in Norway, Fort Lauderdale in the US and in Singapore.  The company is owned by Telenor ASA, a top 10 global mobile operator with over 200 million subscribers. As a result Telenor Maritime has access to excellent competencies and resources in areas like solution innovation, roaming agreements, and product and market development.

The company is a dedicated specialist marine mobile operator with around 400 roaming agreements in place covering more than 3 billion people. We are proud of our engineers’ unique telecoms and shipping competencies. Telenor Maritime is the only operator at sea with a fully managed service, offering all mobile access technologies such as 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi and VSAT for ships and offshore platforms.

Our ambition is to deliver the same quality of mobile experience at sea as on land. Today, mobile devices play a huge role in how we all live. Our mission is to make that possible across all the world’s oceans just as on land.

Telenor Maritime has a reputation for being the most customer focused, proactive and innovative mobile operator at sea. All critical installations and operations are delivered by our own highly skilled engineers, our implementation team and our 24/7 network operations team, to ensure optimal on board performance, uptime and user experience.
